LoLo's Herstory

May 20th 1945

1950 (ish)

After the first three Schapp kids were born, Bob decided to build himself a house in Webster. He charitably shared said house with his kids and wife.

Lauraine Ann was the first born to Robert and Gertude Schapp. Soon to follow were Michael, Timothy and Patrick.

Laurie attended Holy Trinity in her elementary years and went on to Mercy, an all girls high school. She was a good student, if maybe a bit too social. She made it her mission to introduce herself to every freshman that first year at Mercy, all 250+!!  She also discovered her flair for the written word. She was on the literary staff for Mercedes magazine and co-editor of the Quill newspaper, both published via the high school.

After graduating from Mercy in 1963, Laurie was VERY busy. After some college she was able to teach in Catholic school. In those days private, religious schools didn't adhere to NYS requirements for educators. Laurie taught 2 years at St Salomes and then 3 years with Christ the King. She also worked a couple part-time jobs at places like Ruby Gordon furniture.

In April of 1968, Laurie married Frank Ault. This union brought forth two kids- Scott Francis in 1970 and his awesome sister, Kristin Michelle in 1975. It was not to last, however, the couple split in 1977 (78?)

In 1980, Laurie earned her Bachelors of Arts degree from Nazareth. She also taught at Franklin, Jefferson & Monroe high schools and St Josephs Villa around about this time. She was VERY busy considering she was a single woman with two little kids.

More to Come......

1980s

So here we are in LoLo's life during the 80s. The Editor (Kristin) is a bit hazy on HerStory during this time because I was a little kid. I know Laurie changed her career path from teaching in the early 80s, diving headlong into the business world. She worked at such places as Anchor Savings Bank and Executone Telecom. (to the many LoLo fans- feel free to send me edits because I'm clueless)

During this time she lived in her brother Tim's house with her two kids. What I remember is that the downstairs apartment only had one large bedroom so Laurie utilized a LARGE piece of cardboard to separate this bedroom into essentially two rooms for her two kids. My side even had girly-sort of wallpaper affixed to the cardboard. Laurie, bless her heart, slept on a pullout couch. At some point her brother switched apartments and we moved upstairs where we each had our own room and LoLo gave her aching back a rest on an actual bed!

In 1982 she met her true love, Ronald Lewis Coleman. (click the button to read more)
